Product Details
CASPR2
Contactin-associated protein-like 2 protein, or Caspr2, is a neuronal transmembrane member of the Neurexin family. Structural features of Caspr2 include epidermal growth factor repeats, laminin G domains, F5/8 type C domain, fibrinogen-like domains, and PDZ binding sites. Caspr2 is a cell adhesion molecule as well as a receptor. It is involved in mediating cell–cell interactions in the nervous system and involved in neural-glia interactions and clustering of potassium channels in myelinated axons. It is expressed at the juxaperanodal region of nodes of Ranvier in the CNS and PNS. Changes in expression have been associated with increased susceptibility to autism and epilepsy.

UniProt Summary: Required for gap junction formation (Probable). Required, with CNTNAP1, for radial and longitudinal organization of myelinated axons. Plays a role in the formation of functional distinct domains critical for saltatory conduction of nerve impulses in myelinated nerve fibers. Demarcates the juxtaparanodal region of the axo-glial junction.
