Amyloid stains and neurodegeneration dyes are key tools used to identify and study abnormal protein aggregates associated with neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other tauopathies. These dyes target components related to neurodegeneration, such as neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in Alzheimer's disease, which are intracellular aggregates of hyperphosphorylated tau protein and stain degenerating neurons and their processes after exposure to a variety of neurotoxic insults in brain sections and cultured neurons.
Antibodies Inc. offers a wide range of neurodegeneration dyes including our highly-cited Fluoro-Jade B and Fluoro-Jade C which stain all degenerating neurons regardless of specific insult or mechanism of cell death. Fluoro-Jade dyes exhibit the greatest signal to background ratio, as well as the highest resolution. Their exceptionally high affinity for degenerating neurons makes them ideal for localizing not only degenerating nerve cell bodies but also distal dendrites, axons and terminals.
We also offer reagents specifically designed to stain atypical deposits of amyloid beta, known as amyloid plaques. These include our Amylo-Glo, Congo Red and Thioflavin T stains.
