Synaptotagmins are a family of calcium sensing, membrane trafficking proteins. 17 different synaptotagmins have been identified in mammals. Synaptotagmin 6 is thought to be a key component of the secretory machinery involved in acrosomal exocytosis (Michaut M. et al., 2001).
