Chromaffin granule amine transporter (Solute carrier family 18 member 1) (Vesicular amine transporter 1) (VAT1)
Vesicular monamine transporters (VMATs) sequester neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and adrenaline into synaptic vesicles (Erickson et al., 1996). Two VMATs have been identified, VMAT1 and VMAT2. VMAT1 shows a higher affinity for serotonin (Brunk et al., 2006). Antibodies specific for VMATs have been used to monitor expression of the transporter during development and in aging and can be effectively used as a marker for monoamine terminals (Haycock et al., 2003; Witkovsky et al., 2005).

Store at ≤ -20 C for long term storage. For short term storage, store at 2-8 C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the vial prior to removing the cap.
