Our Anti-Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule mouse monoclonal primary antibody from Antibodies Incorporated is produced in-house from hybridoma clone ESA 214. It detects human Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule, and is purified by Protein A chromatography. It is great for use in IHC, ICC, WB, ELISA.

Western blotting of SW1116 cell lysate using 0.2 ug/mL, 1 ug/mL, or 5 ug/mL mouse monoclonal anti-Epithelial Specific Antigen (Ep-CAM) antibody (MM-1014). MM-1014 mouse anti-Ep-CAM antibody recognizes endogenous Ep-CAM at 40 kDa.

Immunofluorescent staining of MCF7 cells using 10 ug/mL mouse monoclonal anti-EpCAM antibody (MM-1014) (green). The cells were mounted with Antibodies Incorporated Fluoroshield with DAPI mounting medium (Cat#AR-6501). DAPI nuclear stain (blue) shows cell nuclei. Anti-EpCAM stains the membrane of MCF7 cells.

Target Description

Epithelial specific antigen is a transmembrane glycoprotein (40 kDa) also known as ESA or epithelial cellular adhesion molecule (Ep-CAM). This protein is expressed on basolateral cell surface in most simple epithelia and vast majority of cancers. According to the “Cancer Stem Cells” (CSC) theory, tumors are not viewed as simple monoclonal expression of transformed cells, but rather as complex tissue where abnormal growth is driven by a minority pathological CSC pool that on one hand has acquired tumor related features such as uncontrolled growth and ability to form metasis and on the other hand maintains its inherent capacity to self renew and differentiate into a phenotypic ally heterogeneous, although aberrant progency. This antibody has been used recently to characterize the EpCAM high CD44+ versus EpCAM low/Cd44- indifferent cancer cells.
