Anti-Dicer Antibody (N167/7)
Our mouse Dicer monoclonal antibody from NeuroMab is produced in-house from clone N167/7. It detects human, mouse, and rat Dicer and is purified by Protein A chromatography. KO validated. Works in WB, ICC, ELISA.
Immunoblot versus adult rat brain membranes (RBM) and extracts of embryonic stem (ES) cells from wild-type (WT) and Dicer knockout (KO) mice probed with N167/7 (left) and N52A/42 (right, loading control) TC supe. Mouse ES cell samples courtesy of Chryssa Kanellopoulou and David Livingston, Harvard.

Product Details
Dicer
Endoribonuclease Dicer or Dicer 1, Ribonuclease III is encoded by the gene DICER1. DICER1 acts as a double stranded (ds) ribonuclease and plays a role in short post transcriptional gene silencing. DICER1 cleaves full length dsRNA and miRNA into smaller moleclues 21-23 nucleotides in length, called siRNAs and microRNAs. Dicer1 is expressed in a variety of tissues, including brain. Diseases associated with this gene include Pleuropulmonary Blastoma, Glow Syndrome and Wilms Tumor.

UniProt Summary: Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease playing a central role in short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. Cleaves naturally occurring long dsRNAs and short hairpin pre-microRNAs (miRNA) into fragments of twenty-one to twenty-three nucleotides with 3' overhang of two nucleotides, producing respectively short interfering RNAs (siRNA) and mature microRNAs. SiRNAs and miRNAs serve as guide to direct the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs to degrade them or prevent their translation. Gene silencing mediated by siRNAs, also called RNA interference, controls the elimination of transcripts from mobile and repetitive DNA elements of the genome but also the degradation of exogenous RNA of viral origin for instance. The miRNA pathway on the other side is a mean to specifically regulate the expression of target genes.
