Western blotting of rat brain homogenate with Antibodies Incorporated anti-RGS14 mouse Mab (Cat. 75-170) and Aves Labs anti-RGS14 recombinant chicken Mab (Cat. 78-170) antibodies. The mouse Mab and chicken Mab were detected with anti-mouse-HRP and anti-chicken-HRP (Cat. 80-1000-HRP), respectively. Aves Labs Recombinant Chicken anti-RGS14 Mab recognizes endogenous RGS14 with similar sensitivity as the anti-RGS14 NeuroMab in the rat brain homogenate at ~60 kDa.

Scientific Background

RGS14 is a member of the RGS family (regulator of G-protein signaling) and is highly expressed in the prefrontal cortex. Hallmark domains of RGS14 include a RGS domain, two Raf-like Ras-binding domains and a GoLoco motif. RGS14 inactivates G protein α subunits. Alterations in this protein have been implicated in Schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Production Notes

This recombinant antibody is a chimeric antibody created by replacing the mouse heavy and light constant regions of clone N133/21 with chicken IgY heavy and light constant regions. As such this antibody retains the same binding performance as the original clone N133/21 but can be detected using standard anti-chicken secondary antibodies allowing flexibility for multiplexing applications. This antibody is expressed recombinantly in mammalian cells and then affinity purified from the cell culture media.
