Behind the Poster: How Recombinant Chicken Chimeric Antibodies Improve Reproducibility, Multiplexing, and Mouse Tissue Staining
At this year's SfN tradeshow, we presented our poster, "Reformatting NeuroMab Mouse Monoclonal Antibodies into Novel Recombinant Chicken Chimeric Antibodies Enables Enhanced Reproducibility, Multiplexing, and Mouse Tissue Staining."
So far we have converted 27 NeuroMab (21 at time of abstract submission) and in-house clones into recombinant chicken IgY antibodies, retaining their validated antigen-binding regions while adding the unique advantages of chicken immunoglobulins - enabling more flexible experimental designs, improved reproducibility, and enhanced use in mammalian systems.
Carrier-free and conjugated versions are also available!
Why Reformat NeuroMab Antibodies?
- Expanded multiplexing capability
- Ideal for staining mouse tissues
- Reduced background and off-target binding
- Animal-free, recombinant production
- Retained NeuroMab specificity
- Enhanced reproducibility and lot-to-lot consistency
What Our Poster Showcased
- Chicken recombinants do not cross-react with anti-mouse secondary antibodies and perform similarly as the parental NeuroMabs in Western Blots
- Chicken recombinants show identical specificity as the parental NeuroMabs in IHC
- Chicken recombinants enable multiplexing with mouse and/or rabbit antibodies
- Chicken recombinant antibodies robustly stain mature human organoids demonstrating their utility for multiplex imaging in complex multicellular models
Why This Matters for Researchers
- Chicken recombinants complement existing mouse monoclonal collections, expanding assay design options for diverse neuroscience and cell biology applications
- The ability to use these antibodies in multiplex imaging of tissues and human organoids highlights their value as versatile tools for basic and preclinical neuroscience research.

From our Sister Company:
Our sister company Biosensis also presented at the show. Check out their poster, "First Monoclonal Antibodies for Truncated BDNF Enable Isoform-Specific Detection via ELISA." Truncated brain-derived neurotrophic factor (trcBDNF) is an understudied BDNF isoform implicated in neurological dysfunction, but its detection has been limited by high homology with proBDNF and mature BDNF. To address this, Biosensis generated monoclonal antibodies against its unique N-terminal sequence, producing 18 candidates that selectively recognize trcBDNF without cross-reactivity to the other isoforms.
