Target Description:

The synapsin family of proteins are neuron specific phospho-proteins comprised of synapsins I, II and III. Synapsins I and II are abundantly expressed pre-synaptic proteins that play key roles in synaptic plasticity and synaptogenesis (Feng et al., 2002; Nayak et al., 1996). Synapsin III is the most recent member of the synapsin family to be indentified and is primarily expressed in extra-synaptic sites such as cell bodies and growth cones (Ferreira A. et al., 2000). Synapsin III is expressed at much lower levels than synapsin I and II in the adult brain and is therefore thought to be involved in early neural development (Kao HT, et al., 1998).

Antibody Validation and Application Notes

This antibody recognizes a single immunoreactive band of expected molecular weight when used to probe lysate from COS cells overexpressing target.

This antibody recognizes a single immunoreactive band of expected molecular weight when used to probe brain lysate.

Immunocytochemistry:

This antibody shows the expected staining pattern when used to stain COS cells overexpressing target.

Immunohistochemistry:
This antibody shows the expected immunoperoxidase-diaminobenzidine / immunofluorescence staining pattern when used to stain brain sections.
