M-Phase Phosphoprotein 8 is encoded by the gene MPHOSPH8. MPHOSPH8 is a heterochromatin component that specifically recognizes and binds methylated 'Lys-9' of histone H3 (H3K9me) and promotes recruitment of proteins that mediate epigenetic repression. MPHOSPH8 is expressed in the brain. Diseases associated with MPHOSPH8 include Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease.
Fusion protein amino acids 50-120 (Chromo domain) of human MPP8 (also known as m-phase phosphoprotein 8 and MPHOSPH8, accession number Q99549); Rat: 92% identity (66/71 amino acids identical); Mouse: 91% identity (65/71 amino acids identical)
No cross-reactivity reported
