MAX Dimerization Protein 3 is encoded by the gene MXD3. MXD3 is a member of the Myc superfamily. MXD3 is a transcriptional repressor which forms a heterodimer with the cofactor MAX to form a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein complex which recognizes the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. MXD3 is expressed in lung and blood. Diseases associated with MXD3 include Perianal Hematoma and Bartholin's Duct Cyst.
Fusion protein amino acids 116-206 (C-terminus) of human Mad3 (also known as Max-interacting transcriptional repressor, Max-associated protein 3, MAX dimerization protein 3, Myx and Mxd3, accession number Q9BW11); Mouse: 82% identity (75/91 amino acids identical); Rat: 78% identity (71/91 amino acids identical); ~50% identity with Mxi1
