Transfected cell immunoblot: extracts of COS cells transiently transfected with Myc-tagged Pex7 or untagged Kv2.1 plasmid and probed with N232/9 (left) and 19E10 (right) TC supe.
Peroxisomal Biogenesis Factor 7 is encoded by the gene PEX7. PEX7 is a member of the WD repeat peroxin-7 family. PEX7 binds to the N-terminal PTS2-type peroxisomal targeting signal and plays an essential role in peroxisomal protein import. PEX7 is ubiquitously expressed with the highest levels in the pancreas, skeletal muscle, and heart. Diseases associated with PEX7 include Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata, Type 1 and Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorder 9B.
Fusion protein amino acids 64-150 (WD1 and WD2 repeat domains) of human PEX7(also known as Peroxisomal targeting signal 2 receptor, PTS2 receptor, PTS2R, Peroxisomal biogenesis factor 7 and Peroxin-7, accession number O00628); Mouse: 94% identity (82/87 amino acids identical); Rat: 93% identity (81/87 amino acids identical) Less than 50% identity with other WD repeat-containing proteins
