Our Anti-Olig2 chicken polyclonal primary antibody from Aves Labs is produced in-house. It detects human, mouse, and rat Olig2, and is affinity-purified IgY. It is great for use in IHC, ICC, WB.

COS-7 cells were transfected with OLIG2-flag cDNA or mock transfected for 48 hours and lysed. Equal amounts of cell lysates were separated by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotted with chicken anti-OLIG2. AvesLabs Chicken anti-OLIG2 antibody recognizes OLIG2 protein but does not show any reactivity in the mock transfected COS-7 lysate.

Scientific Background

OLIG2 (also known as BHLHB1, BHLHE19, PRKCBP2, RACK17) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor essential for oligodendrocyte and motoneuron development in the spinal cord (Ono et al., 2008). OLIG2 is also known to play a key role in mediating the brains response to cortical injury through post-injury gliosis (Chen Y et al., 2008) and is also highly expressed in malignant glioma where it has been implicated in glioma progression.
