Scientific Background

Trafficking kinesin-binding protein 1 or O-Linked N-Acetylglucosamine Transferase Interacting Protein 106 is encoded by the gene TRAK1. TRAK1 is involved in mitochondrial motility and regulation of endosome-to-lysosome trafficking. TRAK1 can bind both kinesin and dynein. TRAK1 is ubiquitously expressed in tissues. Diseases associated with this gene include Early Infantile Epileptic Encephalopathy and Undetermined Early-Onset Epileptic Encephalopathy.
