Scientific Background

Synaptotagmins are a family of calcium sensing, membrane trafficking proteins. 17 different synaptotagmins have been identified in mammals. Synaptotagmin 7 is highly, ubiquitously expressed in the brain and was originally identified as a Ca2+ sensor for lysosomal exocytosis, but has since been demonstrated to play roles in secretion from many different cell types (MacDougall DD, et al., 2018)
