Calretinin
Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein involved in calcium signaling. It is abundantly expressed throughout the central nervous system, retina and many other tissues. Studies have shown that calretinin may play a role in neuroprotection by buffering intracellular calcium (Lukas and Jones 1994, Weisenhorn et al., 1996). Additionally, calretinin selectively stains mesothelial cells thus making it an important marker for differentiating malignant mesothelioma from carcinomas (Attanoos et al., 2000).

This recombinant antibody is a chimeric antibody created by replacing the mouse heavy and light constant regions of our NeuroMab clone L122/6 with chicken IgY heavy and light constant regions. As such this antibody retains the same binding performance as the original clone L122/6 but can be detected using standard anti-chicken secondary antibodies allowing flexibility for multiplexing applications. This antibody is expressed recombinantly in mammalian cells and then affinity purified from the cell culture media and conjugated.
