Anti-mKate2 Antibody
Our Anti-mKate2 chicken polyclonal primary antibody from Aves Labs is produced in-house. It detects mKate2, mRuby, TurboRFP and other fluorescent proteins derived from Entacmaea quadricolor. It is affinity-purified IgY and is great for use in ICC, IHC, WB.

Immunofluorescence of COS7 cells expressing mKate2 or mRuby using chicken anti-mKate2 antibody (green) and mKate2 autofluorescence (red), showing complete overlap in the signal in transfected cells. The cells were stained using goat anti-chicken IgY FITC secondary antibody (Cat. 80-1000-FITC) and mounted with Fluoroshield with DAPI mounting medium (Cat. AR-6501). The DAPI nuclear stain (blue) shows the nuclei of both transfected and untransfected cells.

Product Details
mKate2
mKate2 is a red fluorescent protein derived from Entacmaea quadricolor, a Bubble-tip anemone native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. mKate2 is a rapidly maturing, monomeric fluorescent protein with excitation at 588nm and emission at 633nm and hence is considered a 'far-red' fluorescent protein. Due to its far-red emission mKate2 is particularly well suited to in vivo imaging and it is also known to be brighter and more photostable than the popular fluorescent protein mCherry. Related fluorescent proteins derived from Entacmaea quadricolor include mRuby, mTagBFP2, TurboRFP, mCardinal, and TagRFP-T. Because of the high sequence conservation between these highly-related fluorescent proteins our chicken anti-mKate2 polyclonal antibody recognizes each of these fluorescent proteins allowing you the flexibility to stain your samples for mKate2, mRuby, mTagBFP2, TurboRFP, mCardinal, or TagRFP-T with a single reagent.

Store at 4°C in the dark. Under these conditions, the antibodies should have a shelf life of at least twelve months, provided they remain sterile. For longer term storage, aliquot and freeze to avoid freeze-thaw of the antibody.
Liquid
Eggs from hens hyperimmunized with target were used to prepare an IgY fraction which was then subjected to antigen-specific affinity purification.
Phosphate-buffered (10 mM) isotonic (0.9%, w/v) saline (“PBS," pH 7.2) with sodium azide (0.02%, w/v) added as a preservative.

Unconjugated
Antibody recognizes mKate2, mRuby, mTagBFP2, TurboRFP, mCardinal, and TagRFP-T owing to them all being derived from same fluorescent protein.
Each new lot of this antibody is tested to confirm that it recognizes a single immunoreactive band of expected molecular weight when used in Western blot.
These antibodies are to be used as research laboratory reagents and are not for use as diagnostic or therapeutic reagents in humans.
