Transfected cell immunoblot: extracts of COS cells transiently transfected with GFP-tagged Gamma- protocadherin-C3 and –A3 and untagged Kv2.1 plasmids and probed with N174B/27 (left) and N159/5 (right) TC supe.
Protocadherin Gamma Subfamily C, 3 is encoded by the gene PCDHGC3. PCDHGC3 is a member of the protocadherin gamma gene cluster. PCDHGC3 is a neural cadherin-like cell adhesion protein that most likely plays a critical role in the establishment and function of specific cell-cell connections in the brain. PCDHGC3 is expressed in the nervous system, liver, and skin. Diseases associated with PCDHGC3 include Corneal Dystrophy, Endothelial, X-Linked and Brachydactyly, Type A3.
Fusion protein amino acids 720-804 (variable cytoplasmic domain) of mouse Gamma-protocadherin-C3 (also known as PCDH-gamma-C3, Protocadherin-43, PC-43, Protocadherin-2 and PCDH2, accession number Q91XX1); Human: 97% identity (83/85 amino acids identical); Rat: 97% identity (83/85 amino acids identical); No significant identity with other Gamma-protocadherin proteins
