Calcium-activated potassium channel subunit beta-2, Potassium Calcium-Activated Channel Subfamily M Regulatory Beta Subunit 2 or BKbeta2 is encoded by the gene KCNMB2. BKbeta2 can bind to KCNMA1 to form a channel in the calcium activated large conductance (MaxiK channel) family. BKbeta2 acts to modulate the calcium sensitivity and gating kinetics of KCNMA1. BKbeta2 is expressed in the membrane in many tissues including kidney, heart, ovary and brain.
