Adult mouse brain immunoblot: extracts of brains from wild-type (1), Netrin-G2 knockout (2) and NGL-2 knockout (3) mice were probed with Netrin-G2 antibody (left) or N50/36 (right). Reproduced with permission from 2007 Zhang et al Genes Brain Behav.
Leucine Rich Repeat Containing 4 is encoded by the gene LRRC4. LRRC4 is a synaptic adhesion protein that regulates the formation of excitatory synapses through the recruitment of pre and postsynaptic proteins. LRRC4 organizes the lamina pathway-specific differentiation of dendrites, and plays an important role in auditory synaptic responses. LRRC4 is expressed in the brain. LRRC4 is significantly downregulated in primary brain tumors.
