Brain-specific angiogenesis inhibitor 1-associated protein 2 or IRSp53/BAIAP2 is encoded by the gene BAIAP2 and is a MAGUK (membrane-associted guanylase kinase homolog) family. BAIAP2 is an adaptor protein which links G-proteins in the membrane to cytoplasmic proteins and is involved in cell processes including regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, neurite growth and the promotion of filipodia formation. Multiple isoforms of BAIAP2 exist with differential tissue expression. Diseases associated with BAIAP2 include Dentatorubral-Pallidoluysian Atrophy and Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder.
