Dynein intermediate chain 1, axonemal or DNAIC1 is encoded by the gene DNAI1 and is a member of the dynein intermediate chain family. DNAI1 is an intermediate chain dynein in respiratory cilia. This protein has varied functions including development of respiratory function, motility of spermatozoa, and asymmetrical organization of the viscera during embryogenesis. Diseases associated with DNAI1 include Ciliary Dyskinesia and Kartagener Syndrome.
