Our range of cell viability assay products recently grew by two. It’s crucial to accurately detect cell viability, and our easy, bright, and reliable fluorescent cell viability assays are used by a growing number of labs for this purpose. It’s why our recent work has been to prepare and offer two new cell viability assays. We now offer a
Green Cathepsin B Assay, and a
Far Red Pyroptosis/Caspase-1 Assay. Like our other products, these are available for direct purchase from the ImmunoChemistry Technologies
website.
Cathepsins are a group of protease enzymes typically found in the lysosome. One specific cathepsin –
cathepsin B – plays an important role in intracellular protein catabolism. There is evidence that increased cathepsin B activity is an indication of chronic inflammatory diseases. Elevated cathepsin activity is associated with disease states such as cancer and even Alzheimer’s disease. Our new Green Cathepsin B Assay allows researchers to detect and monitor intracellular cathepsin activity over time using live whole cells in vitro. This new assay contains the Rhodamine 110 Cathepsin B Substrate, which is a non-cytotoxic and cell membrane permeant substrate that fluoresces green upon cleavage by active cathepsins.
Pyroptosis is a highly inflammatory form of programmed cell death that occurs most frequently upon infection with intracellular pathogens and is likely to form part of the antimicrobial immune response. The
National Institutes of Health report that this type of cell death is inherently inflammatory. Pyroptosis is triggered by various pathological stimuli, such as stroke, heart attack or cancer, and is crucial for controlling microbial infections. Pyroptosis requires the function of the enzyme caspase-1. Our new assay product utilizes our popular FLICA technology to measure caspase-1 activation. Using this kit, researchers can easily detect pyroptotic cells in their whole cell samples in vitro. FLICA probes are cell permeant noncytotoxic

Two New Assays Added to Our Portfolio
Our portfolio already offered a wide range of fluorescent whole cell assays for intracellular apoptosis detection and cellular analysis. Our kits detect apoptosis, necrosis, intracellular caspase activity, cell-mediated cytotoxicity, activated serine proteases, oxidative stress, mitochondrial membrane depolarization, and more. What sets our products apart is that our assay kits are designed for use in whole living cells – no lysing of the cells is required. These fluorescent assays make it easier for detection and a deeper level of accuracy. Visit the ImmunoChemistry Technologies website to learn more about our wide range of
cell viability assays.
