Secondary Antibodies

Secondary antibodies are often referred to as detection antibodies since they bind to primary antibodies and provide a means of visualizing the signal via conjugation to detectable labels such as HRP or various fluorophores. They are furthermore useful in enhancing the sensitivity of an assay as multiple secondary antibody molecules bind to each primary antibody providing amplification of the signal.

Antibodies Inc. offers a wide array of secondary antibodies in many species to complement our primary antibody offerings and aid in multiplexing. All our secondaries have been highly cross-adsorbed to prevent cross-reactivity in species with conserved IgG domains. Our secondary antibodies are available in convenient, ready-to-use formats conjugated to enzymatic labels for use in chromogenic reactions frequently employed in Western blotting and ELISA such as horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and alkaline phosphatase (AP).

Fluorophore conjugated secondary antibodies are offered in various, commonly used wavelengths for ease in multiplexing in applications such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry (FC).
