Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily D member 3 or Kv4.3 potassium channel subunit is encoded by the gene KCND3. Kv4.3 is an alpha subunit of the voltage-gated potassium channel (Shal) family and mediates transmembrane potassium transport in excitable membranes. Kv4.3 is an integral membrane protein that combines to form tetramers. Kv4.3 is detected in the heart and brain. Diseases associated with this gene include Spinocerebellar Ataxia 19 and Brugada Syndrome.
