Question:
Are all Polyclonal Antibodies Affinity Purified?

Answer:
Polyclonal Antibodies listed, with the exception of products #48-xxxx series, are not affinity purified and are excellent for procedures and techniques that do not require high specificity. They are prepared by immunizing host animals with purified IgG antigen preparations and represent a low cost alternative to affinity purified antibodies. These products can be used for applications such as: capture procedures for RIA and EIA; preparation of immunoabsorbents; immunoprecipitation; bridging antibodies for peroxidase-anti-proxidase (PAP) procedures; immunoelectrophoresis; and agglutination assays.

Question:
What is the concentration of Polyclonal Antibodies?

Answer:
Unlabeled antisera produced in goats and sheep have an average Ouchterlony preciptin titer of 8.0 mg/ml specific antibody. Antisera produced in rabbits have a minimum of 7.0 mg/ml. Store at zero to -20 degrees C.

Question:
What are the concentrations of Labeled Antibodies?

Answer:
Fluorescein Isothiocynate (FITC) labeled antibodies have an average of 3.2 ug FITC per milligram of protein, supplied at 10 mg/ml for goats, sheep and rabbits. Store at zero to -20 degrees C.

Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) labeled antibodies are provided at 1.0 mg/ml in 0.01 M Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS), pH 7.6 containing 10% mannose, 2% sucrose and 1% BSA as stabilizing reagents and 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative. Suggested working dilution is approximately 1:10,000 for direct ELISA. Store at 4 degrees C.

Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) labeled antibodies are supplied at 1.0 mg/ml in 0.05 M TRIS-HCl, pH approximately 1:5,000 for direct ELISA. Store at 4 degrees C.

Biotin labeled antibodies are supplied at 0.5 mg/ml in PBS, pH 7.6 with 1.0% BSA for stabilization and 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative. Suggested working dilution is 1:20,000 for direct ELISA. Store at zero to -20 degrees C.

Question:
What do the abbreviations AFP, AP, BIO, SA, FITC, HRP, and UN represent?

Answer:
AFP: Affinity Purified
AP: Alkaline Phosphatase
BIO: Biotin
SA: Salted Out Antisera
FITC: Fluorescein Isothiocyanate
HRP: Horseradish Peroxidase
UN: Unlabeled
